Locked Out?!?

I stayed home from work today to be with the boys since Noni had to go to the hospital with G'Pa. Our morning started out fine. Both boys were up by 8 o'clock. They then got their diapers and clothes changed and had breakfast. After breakfast we were going to play before it was naptime. It is about this time that Bryce decided to take a poo-poo. After I changed his diaper I opened the door to the garage to throw it away and decided to get the mail while I was out. Well, our doorknobs open from the inside when they are actually locked on the outside. There I was, in my pajamas, long robe, and Brian's shoes! I had no way to get back into the house! I tried every window without any luck. I then saw the mail truck at the end of the street and thought I'd ask to use his cell phone so that Brian could come home. As I was walking to the mail truck I noticed that our neighbor's truck was running so I asked to borrow his phone instead. I called Brian, who thought this was all a joke, and then returned home to watch the boys through the window. Our neighbor was so wonderful...he brought his truck up and parked it in our drive and insisted that I sit in it (even is just for a few minutes at a time) to keep warm. He even brought gloves and hot tea! Hudson thought I was playing a game with him and he laughed everytime he would see me come to the window. Anytime Bryce would begin to fuss, I'd ask Hudson to "turn the music on" and he would! I cannot believe that Hudson knew what I was asking! He would run right over to Bryce's toy and turn it on and the music would soothe Bryce! I cannot believe that I locked myself out of the house; however, it wasn't much of a disaster thanks to our neighbor and my wonderful husband!
The photos below were taken moments before the excitement...

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow! So it feels like there is no extra time for anything, like blogging! We are busy, busy, busy- but having so much fun! Hudson expresses his thoughts and feelings alot! He does this through facial expressions and by yelling or grunting or tossing a toy. He has started clapping when he achieves something and he says "mwuah" as he gives kisses! Bryce is a noisy boy. He "talks" all of the time. He also has a few long pieces of very long hair on the top of his head!

Hudson's 18 month check-up

Hudson had his 18 month check up yesterday. He weighs 21 pounds 5 ounces and is 32 inches. "Definitely not the biggest guy" to quote the Dr! He behaved really well in the office and took his shot like such a champ. Didn't make one peep! The nurse actually came back in after she left to see if he started to cry. She seemed very surprised to hear him saying "puppy and meow" at the pictures on the wall like nothing happened. During his visit, I asked about his eating habits because I feel that he is a skinny minny and I'm afraid to let him miss a meal so I end up letting him eat crackers rather than nothing. The Dr feels that Hudson is growing fine and that I need to toughen up! No child will starve to death, right?!

Busy Day

This morning the boys played together and Hudson tried to climb into his brother's seat...while his brother was in it! I can see this happening a lot from now on!
This afternoon I took Hudson for a haircut! He looks like a little boy now! Since he was so good he enjoyed his first Tootsie Pop~which is very messy!
This evening Aunt Deb and Kelly babysat the kids while Brian and I attended a holiday party hosted by his employers! I was a Wii Bowling SuperStar! 181, 182, and 147!

B's time to Shine!

The word that best describes Bryce is "Sweetheart"! I honestly say "he's so sweet" every single day! Look at those eyes, and that smile...B is a really happy, relaxed baby. He sleeps through the night; however, on occasion he wants a small bottle in the middle of the night but goes right back to sleep. He's not a nap taker! His naps are rarely longer than 20 minutes at a time. He eats every bite of his cereal, fruit, and vegetable at dinner time. You would think that he doesn't have taste buds because he has absolutely no reaction to the different foods. He only sits for a few seconds at a time before his face almost touches the floor (like he's folded in half)! He's a thumb sucker. He only takes a binky when falling asleep at night. He sways from left to right more often than not when in his jumper. He likes to grab his feet when lying on his back. When Bryce cries he usually makes an awful dramatic face before any sounds comes out THEN it sounds like the world is coming to an end! He is a "people person". He's very content as long as he's with the crowd. Bryce is the absolute perfect addition to our family and it will be exciting to see how he starts to interact with his big brother!

Say "Cheeeese"

And this is what you get!

Hudson is 18 months old today, so you're going to hear all about him...
Hudson is no longer a baby. He is so full of energy and seems so fearless. He loves to climb onto everything. He says "touchdown" everytime he sees a football, a football player, a football field etc. I think he thinks that the entire game of football is called Touchdown! Bryce is still named "Baby" to him and he says "Baby" everytime he hears him. He sleeps pretty good at night and takes a two hour nap every afternoon, usually from 12-2. He would live on goldfish crackers if he could. He's turning into a very fussy eater and seems like he's always eating "snack" foods like yogurt, NutriGrain bars, fruit etc. instead of meals, although he does love to eat with a fork and spoon. He knows lots of animal sounds and makes the appropriate one everytime he sees one in a book or on TV. He's starting to learn colors. I think he knows red, yellow, blue and green. This came about during potty time. We take each bath toy out of a basket and say what color it is and put it back. This keeps him sitting for long periods of time. Speaking of potty...he's gone on it several times, although I think it was by chance. Right place, right time. He knows what you are supposed to do on the potty, but doesn't know that he needs to tell me! He's starting to get very clingy...wants picked up all of the time. He loves bubbles in his bath and loves when you pour water over his head. He has started drinking out of the straw sippy cup. He loves "Sambie" and emptying out the laundry basket. He still needs at least two binkies at bed time (we'll work on that after he's potty trained-don't want too many changes at once for the little guy). He will say "peeeeeese (please)" when he wants something, you just might have to remind him. He's pretty good at turning the pages of a book without destroying them. The current book of choice is Green Eggs and Ham. He's a skinny minny. We have to fold the top of his pants over so that they don't fall down. He falls and bumps his head every single day- Like Father Like Son! He likes Elmo and any utensil that belongs in the kitchen. He is starting to enjoy cartoons. He will run to refrigerator anytime he wants a drink. Hudson surprises us every day by imitating something that he has picked up and provides constant entertainment. It is amazing to watch him grow!

Head of the Table

Hudson has moved on from highchair to booster seat! He was very excited to sit at the table and I am very excited because Bryce can now sit in the highchair. Finally a family dinner all together.

Lookin' Good

Hudson was checkin' himself out after Noni gave him a super cool hairstyle!
I love how his hands are folded!

"Nap Time"

This definitely doesn't happen too often...usually the boys go right to sleep, and sleep good, when put down for a nap. This past Sunday the boys were "napping" at the same time. The house was silent. I thought to myself "how wonderful". When I went to peek in on them I saw Hudson standing in the corner of his crib, eating his shirt, while Bryce was very wide eyed peering over his blanket. Kinda funny that they were both so content!

So adorable...

Hudson was definitely lovin' his brother today. Anytime Bryce on the floor Hudson would hover over him to give hugs and kisses. He even played with him...While Bryce was in the "Around the World" (a walker-type chair attached to an activity table so that he can only walk in a circle) Hudson decided to push him around and around. Hudson finally stopped at the piano. He played by himself for a moment, then took Bryce's hand to "teach" him how to push the keys!!! Awwww....moments like this make my heart melt.

New Year's Eve

Two happy boys on New Year's Eve is always a great time! Hudson was a ball of energy. Climbing onto everything. He wouldn't sit still. Bryce was all smiles, as usual. He even sat unassisted for the first time. Not sure yet if that was a fluke or just the beginning. It was almost impossible to get Hudson to go to bed. Too much fun, I guess. It was almost 11pm once he fell asleep. Brian and I were exhausted ourselves. Once the ball dropped at midnight we were off for some zzz's too. The boys were both pretty restless throughout the night as they alternated waking with cries. This is pretty unusual, thank goodness! It is not much fun either. Hopefully it was just an off night and we get more rest tonight.
