Too funny...

Bryce was sleeping in his car seat this afternoon. I often set him there to help prevent him from puking up all of his lunch. To offer him more privacy I had the canopy up, hoping this would shield him from Hudson. Well...I heard the toys on the seat chime so that meant Hudson was there! Hudson climbed under the canopy causing the seat to recline all the way back. He was then, of course, stuck; however, he accomplished his goal of giving "baby" a kiss!

Perfect Sleeper

Today is Day 3 of Hudson going down for a nap and going to bed at night without fussing AT ALL! This is such a beautiful thing considering where we started when Bryce was born. I admit that I made a mistake by letting Hudson fall asleep in my bed with me towards the end of my pregnancy. It was the only way that he would go to bed. Once he was sleeping we would move him to his crib but he wouldn't fall asleep there. Once the baby arrived it was no longer possible for me to lay down with him. I thought that I was the world's worst mommy because my child wouldn't nap or sleep, so I was determined to start a new routine (especially to help make Noni's life easier once I went back to work). It started with Hudson falling asleep on the couch, better than my bed, right? :) This wasn't good enough, so it was time for the crib. At first we had to stand there until he would fall asleep. This was still not good enough, especially with another baby that needed you. So next we would lay Hudson in the crib and leave the room. He would scream and cry until we returned, then he would lay back down and fall asleep. This lasted for a couple of weeks but eventually he would scream and cry then fall asleep without you coming back into the room. And now, you can lay him down and leave the room without any crying!! YAY, I never thought I'd see this day! So, this is the trick:
Lay Hudson down with a binky. Hand him another binky. Say "there's your puppy". Turn on his soothing waterfall. Rub his hair while saying "I love you. Have a nice snooze. I'll see you in a bit". And finally, leave the room and don't look back :)

My Buddy and Me

Hudson just loves our baby. He is constantly saying "baby" any time he hears Bryce make a sound and constantly rubs him on top of his head. Today I set Bryce in the corner of the chair in his bedroom so that he could enjoy the new view and Hudson so badly wanted to sit with his brother.

From the looks of this picture Bryce is starting to get used to his brother's antics. He's totally unfazed by Hudson trying to pull off his sock :)

2 months old

Bryce is 2 months old already! He's growing up so fast :) We thought that we lucked out with Hudson being so good, but sweet Bryce is giving him a run for his money. Bryce sleeps so well at night (although he still wakes once to eat, usually around 4am). B-Man is always full of smiles and you'll hear me say this a million more times- his blue eyes are so pretty! I would venture to say that I am the luckiest momma on Earth. I could not have dreamed of more amazing boys. I sure love my Hudson and Bryce!
Bryce @ 2 months

Hudson @ 2 months

Any similarities? Vote on the poll to the right!

Just one of those days...

when one child sleeps
while the other is wide awake!
so much for cleaning! Oh, well...there's always tomorrow!

If only my name were Sammie

Okay, so I'm a little be embarrassed and sad to say that Hudson doesn't call me Mama, Mommy, Ma, ANYTHING! He says Dadda all of the time, Bryce is called Baby, and now...SAMMIE. The dog gets called something?! Maybe he's just saving Mama for something special or for when he does something really bad :)

Perfect Day

Today was perfect. We attended White House Farms annual Fall Festival with Noni and Papa. There were craft and food vendors set up on the lawn and fresh donuts and cider inside. There was also a petting zoo and a slide. Once Hudson "woke up" he seemed to have lots of fun. Noni's popcorn helped too. After the craft show, we came home for a much needed nap and then we were off to the Lily Pond at Mill Creek Park. Bryce enjoyed the fresh air and Hudson loved walking around.

We've been teaching Hudson "nose" and he proudly demonstrates on Bryce every chance he gets!

Toot-A-Roo

Much like his Great G'Pa, Hudson has found ways to have fun with a toilet paper roll! Hudson could keep himself entertained for hours just ripping toilet paper from the roll and stuffing it inside.

Little PINK hairbrush

While visiting this morning, Grace wanted to brush her horse's hair. Hudson often hovers over Grace (which starts to drive her crazy) so to divert his attention we gave him his own hairbrush. You can see that brushes were quickly swapped and Grace ended up with what she called the "hairy brush" and Hudson ended up with the PINK brush! When the brushes were not in use, Bryce got in on the action. Hudson left the brushes for Bryce in exchange for his binky- surprise, surprise :)

Puppy

Hudson has taken a liking to a stuffed puppy. He carries it around and says "puppy" all of the time. If you say "where's your puppy?" he will walk around until he finds it and then bring it to you. He sometimes crawls around with it hanging from his own mouth like a puppy!

Here we go Steelers!

Football season has officially started and Brian and I were able to attend the first game! Luckily the Steelers WON (in overtime)...that would have been a long car ride home :) Noni and Aunt Dana sat with the boys- THANKS again!

peek a boo

There's just no hiding Bryce from Hudson. Since Bryce has reflux and the doctor recommended sitting him upright after he eats I thought I'd put him in his car seat in the corner so that he could get some peace and quiet. Hudson and I were in the other room and Hudson was busy playing with his new favorite, a container of tea light candles. Exciting, I know. Anyways, as soon as Hudson heard Bryce stirring he took off in search of him. I was right behind (after grabbing my camera, of course!). I couldn't wait to see how big brother was going to take care of little brother. First, I could see that Hudson stole Bryce's binky- Hudson LOVES his binkies! Then, as Bryce was getting upset, Hudson tried to give it back- so CUTE! Once the fussing was over how about a game of peek-a-boo :) How nice to have a playmate to see everyday.

It's Bumbo Time

Bryce tried out the Bumbo for the first time today and he held himself up really well. He seemed to be amused at his new view and Hudson actually played beside him rather than hovering over him and smothering him with kisses (like he does when Bryce is lying on the floor).

About Bryce

Bryce had his checkup on Friday and he weighs 9 pounds 15 ounces and is 21 inches long. He may have reflux because when this boy "spits up" the entire bottle comes projecting out; however, since it maybe only happens once a day and he is growing so well so we are not going to do anything about it at this time. He has been a little restless at night in the bassinet so we decided it was time to move him to his crib for more comfort. Let me tell you, he did A-MAZ-ING last night! He slept until 4:30 this morning and only woke for a bottle. He went right back to sleep until almost 9am. This time he woke with many, many smiles.
