The Lasher Boys are Ready for Some Football!
Although the Steelers at Ravens game is one that Daddy would like to forget, the boys at least had fun kicking off this football season! The boys started with a nice pregame snack...goldfish crackers, Cars fruit snacks, brownies, and juice! Once the game started it was time to "teach" the boys a little about the game. Daddy threw passes and then Bryce remembered the helmet! He came out wearing it and was ready to play! It was then halftime, and time to eat again! Towards the end of the game Bryce was napping in his bed and Hudson was on the couch with his blanket and pillow! Boy did that game wear them out!

Bryce's Big Boy Bed
After weeks of climbing out of and somersaulting back into his bed, we decided it was time to convert the crib! Needless to say, Bryce was excited because he loves running and jumping into Hudson's bed. He even got his little screwdriver to help Daddy take it apart. After the conversion, I've only seen him trying to climb over the side once...silly boy!
It's a BULL, It's a SMILEY FACE...
NOPE...They're just hooks from IKEA!
We got adorable hooks from IKEA. When they're mounted on the wall they're the back end of a dog AKA "Puppy butts" or "Dog tails" by Hudson! He's fascinated with these hooks. In fact he's already ripped them out of the wall twice! I was so amazed at this creativity when he held two together and said "look, Mommy! It's a bull!". It took me a minute, but then I SAW it! I was impressed. Then several minutes later he was in a different room with his "toys" saying "look! It's a smiley face!"...then they were fighting! Who would have known that 3 little hooks each costing $2.99 would be such a hit and inspiration for such creativity?!

Furniture, Finally!

We've finally made Hudson's room a little more cozy! Poor boy was without a dresser etc for over 2 years! We've talked about decorating his room for awhile and now it's finally on it's way! Daddy is the BEST!!! Mommy went online to IKEA around 11pm last night and made a 2 page list of things for Hudson's room. Since some of the furniture would require all of the seats in the car to be down, this was not a trip that we all could take. With very little convincing Brian was off to IKEA this morning with list in hand! Hudson seems to love his new room. Both he and Bryce love the bed the most! Mommy loves the green rug and the long shelf behind the bed...this is something that we can constantly add more things to! Daddy's favorite part of the room is rug/bedding followed with a close second by the dresser!! This Labor Day was spend doing a lot of labor!!Saturday, September 3, 2011
Lake Metroparks Farmpark
And Hudson is too!
The boys love animals. All kinds of animals. Since we've already been to the zoo, I've been wanting to take them to a farm. Lake Metroparks Farmpark was perfect, although we did choose one of the hottest days of the year to go! The Farmpark offered a small cafe where we had lunch first, then we walked the property and found the barnyard. For some reason Hudson was acting afraid of the large pigs who were laying in the mud. Bryce lightened up the mood when he started acting like a chicken! Next we went to the barn where the horses were kept. The boys were more interested in the birds and Hudson really liked the large wooden puzzle. We even went for a little wagon ride. To cool off a bit we went inside where the cows are kept and milked. We missed the demonstration but there was a little play area to "teach" kids how ice cream is made. The boys loved driving the ice cream truck and playing at the various stations. Finally we considered going through the corn maze. We walked to where it was, for what seemed like an eternity but I'm sure that's only because of the heat, but once we saw the size of the maze we decided not to enter. We really didn't feel like getting lost with two little monkeys in a corn field! There was a little playset for the boys to play on by the maze so the whole walk wasn't a waste! All in all we had a fun family day...we always know the boys had fun when they sleep the whole ride home!
These days...

Hudson's Follow Up
Hudson's follow up visit at the Cleveland Clinic went great! The doctor feels that his eyes are perfectly aligned and working together. His left eye's vision is weaker than the right; however, they didn't mention the need for glasses at this time. He was able to pick out the 3D objects in about half of the charts, so again improvement from before surgery. Hudson will visit the Dr again in 4 months to make sure that he is maintaining eye control.
Leaving Cleveland Clinic did not go great. I took Brian's Civic and his car would not start! I do not handle these stressful situations very well. Thankfully Noni decided to come to this visit with me (so that we could go shopping and have lunch- yeah, maybe next time!). After calling AAA we waited about 45 minutes for a tow truck before a parking attendant offered to call someone to give us a jump. Oh how I wish someone would have offered sooner! Here we were pushing two little kids around the parking lot in strollers because it was too hot to sit in the car. Both boys were hungry and tired. Not a fun time! Luckily after the jump, the car started right up. We made it home safely before the car died again in our driveway. Brian took the battery to AutoZone and they told him it was so dead that it didn't even register on the monitor! Time for a new battery!
